Woman, 41, Hit By Freight Train In Mundelein: Police

The collision happened Tuesday morning near the Metra station in Mundelein.

MUNDELEIN, IL — A 41-year-old woman was not seriously injured after she was hit by a freight train in Mundelein on Tuesday, police said.

Police responded to the area of the Metra station, at 205 North Archer Avenue in Mundelein, at about 11:30 a.m. for a report of the woman, who'd been hit by a Canadian National freight train, according to a news release from the Mundelein Police Department. The woman sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening and was taken to Condell Medical Center.

The roadway at the Maple Avenue crossing was temporarily shut down during the investigation. Maple Avenue reopened and the freight train was back up and running at about 12:20 p.m.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
