LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Work on long-awaited improvements at Nicholas Dowden Park in Libertyville are expected to get underway in April.

Upgrades at the park, which are expected $2.4 million, will include a basketball court, vegetative/native garden swale, a zip line, six new pickle ball courts and a walking loop, the Daily Herald is reporting. Village officials say work on portions of the park should be complete by this fall.

“This community park will have something for all ages in the village, and is it is extremely exciting to see such an extensive improvement that is intended to happen only every 30 to 40 years, which will provide memories for families,” said Village Administrator Kelly Amidei.
