2 of 3 Lincoln Park Qdoba Restaurants Closing Up Shop
Are you a Qdoba fan? Catch it while you can! Two of three Lincoln Park locations will close at the end of the week.
If you're a Qdoba Mexican Grill fan, you only have a couple days to get your local fix at two of three Lincoln Park locations.
The duo that's shuttering is among 18 of 26 in the Chicago-area that will close for good on Friday at 3 p.m., the company announced Wednesday on its Facebook and Twitter.
One of soon-to-close local eateries is at 2191 N. Clybourn Ave., and the other, 2427 N. Lincoln Ave. The third at 957 W. Diversey Parkway, will remain open.
Representatives from Qdoba's parent company, Jack in the Box, said last week that they would close 67 company-owned restaurants.
“These closures are expected to have a positive impact on the financial performance of our Qdoba brand, resulting in higher future earnings, average unit volumes, restaurant operating margins, cash flow and return on invested capital," Linda Lang, the company's chairman and chief executive officer, said in the release.
Tim Casey, Qdoba president, referenced the benefits the closures will have on the growth of the chain.
“After a comprehensive review and an in-depth analysis of our real estate portfolio, we believe we can significantly improve Qdoba’s performance and continue to grow the brand. By closing these locations and optimizing our company footprint, we can be more effective in focusing our advertising and marketing resources to support existing and planned restaurants in our core markets where we have high levels of brand awareness."
About 150 new Qdoba restaurants will open in 2014, representatives said. About 70 of those are expected by this fall. Qdoba has 647 restaurants in the country.
"It has been great serving you, and we thank you for your patronage at these restaurants," representatives wrote in a Chicago Qdoba Facebook post.
The following locations will close this Friday:

- 5141 W. 95th St., Oak Lawn
- 31 Orland Square Drive, Orland Park
- 4430 Fox Valley Center Drive, Aurora
- 383 W. Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale
- 1400 Butterfield Road, Downers Grove
- 50 N. Mannheim Road, Hillside
- 2701 E. Main St., St. Charles
- 2001 S. Naperville Road, Wheaton
- 1001 75th St., Woodridge
- 20 E. Chicago Ave., Chicago
- 2191 N. Clybourn Ave., Chicago
- 2427 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago
- 328 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago
- 227 E. Ontario St., Chicago
