Construction Season Marches Through November in Lincoln Park
You may be bidding farewell to beach and boat season here in Chicago, but that's not so for construction season, officials say. Several projects are ramping up in Lincoln Park. We'll tell you the intersections to avoid.

Although many consider the construction season nearly over in Chicago, a few Lincoln Park projects are just getting started.
The North Greenview and West Fullerton avenue intersection is part of the Chicago Department of Transportation's Traffic Signal Modernization Project, according to an alert sent from 32nd Ward Ald. Scott Waguespack.Â
Residents should expect daytime construction activities at the intersection including—curb and gutter removal; utility structure adjustments; removal and replacement of existing sidewalks; removal and replacement of existing pavement; installation of underground conduit; removal and replacement of traffic signal poles and street light poles; as well as foundation and pavement markings.
During construction, temporary "No Parking" signs and traffic barricades will be periodically installed, as is required for improvements. Signs will adhere to permit restrictions for the completion of the work.
Pedestrian traffic control devices will be set up at all quadrants to direct pedestrians, Waguespack says.Â
"If at any time you see issues with the signage or barricades, please don't hesitate to call CDOT at 630-514-2507," according to the alert. "All work at this intersection is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 9, 2013." Â
Besides the Fullerton and Greenview work, a sewer installation is under way nearby in the 2300 block of North Oakley Avenue.
The project will result in a "24-7 street closure" eastbound on Fullerton Avenue at Oakley Avenue, officials say. The project is expected to last through late November.
"Traffic destined for the inbound Kennedy will be detoured north on Western Avenue, while traffic will be detoured south to Armitage via Western and Damen Avenue," a community alert says. "Outbound Kennedy traffic can access the expressway at Armitage, west of Ashland and Elston."
