Craigslist Exchange Gone Bad: Gunman Fires Round at Buyer
Ald. Tom Tunney notified residents of a man who took $1,100 from a victim after bringing a gun to the Craigslist trade and firing a round.

A Craigslist exchange turned violent on the North Side Monday afternoon after an armed gunman displayed his weapon, fired a round and stole more than $1,000, police say.
Ald. Tom Tunney (44th) issued a warning on his Facebook page Tuesday, saying the robbery occurred not far from Lincoln Park in the 3300 block of North Kenmore Avenue at 4:15 p.m. Monday.

“The victim agreed to meet the offender to purchase a computer that he found on Craigslist,” Tunney wrote. “The victim stated that the offender displayed a weapon and fired one round in his direction, but did not hit him.”
Police did not find a shell casing at the scene.

The suspect reportedly took $1,100 from the victim and left. Police are still investigating, and Tunney says he’ll update residents with further developments.
