'Field of Dreams' Fundraisers Invite Residents to Vintage 'Base Ball' Match-up
An effort to reinvent a local field is under way. An upcoming vintage event will be held on the site soon! Read on to learn more.

Coordinators of a Lincoln Park effort to rejuvenate a dilapidated elementary school's field are inviting you to kick back and enjoy a good ol' game of "base ball" next month.
That's right, "base ball", as in the vintage version of the game as it was played during its formative nineteenth-century years. Admission for the June 23 Alcott Field face-off is free, but donations will be accepted, coordinators say.
"Donations are appreciated and benefit the Alcott Field of Dreams for building a new community athletic play area," Alicia Haruska, a volunteer spokeswoman for the fundraising endeavor, said in her event listing post on Patch.
About 15 to 20 people are behind the all-volunteer effort to raise money to recreate Alcott Field, which is adjacent to Alcott Elementary School, 2625 N. Orchard St.
Two vintage teams, Chicago Salmon and Munster Centennials, will take the field at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 23. If you can't make the game but still want to donate, you can do so via the Alcott Field of Dreams donation page.
