Lincoln Park Home to Most Interesting Mac 'n Cheese, Expert Says

Three local restaurants made the cut after a mac 'n cheese expert—yes, there is such a thing—compiled a list of her favorite and most interesting dishes in Chicago.

When on the hunt for Chicago’s most unique and interesting plates of mac ‘n cheese, look no further than Lincoln Park.

Mac 'n Cheese expert Kristen Kuchar toured the city for the online foodie publication Eater Chicago and rounded up 14 of the most interesting ways restaurants are serving up the delicious dish.

What makes Kuchar an expert? The Chicago native recently toured the city with a craving for mac 'n cheese and recently released her first book, Mac 'N Cheese to the Rescue

On her list includes Franks 'N Dawgs in fifth place, Boka in 11th place and Stanley's Kitchen & Tap in 12th place.

The winner of “Most Interesting” went to Dimo’s Pizza in nearby Lake View, a restaurant currently building its second location in Bucktown at 1615 N. Damen Ave.

Here’s what Kuchar has to say about the three Lincoln Park choices:

Franks 'N Dawgs

1863 N. Clybourn Avenue
“Truffle Mac 'n Cheese Dog” nratwurst sausage is topped with decadent truffle mac n’ cheese with parmesan and piled onto a brioche roll. From there, it’s topped with crunchy bread crumbs and thyme.

Boka

1729 N. Halsted St.
“Mac n’ Cheese” Well of course Boka isn’t going to do a plain mac 'n cheese. They’ve added an unexpected ingredient—edamame. It’s completed with truffle oil bread crumbs.

Stanley's Kitchen & Tap

1970 N. Lincoln Ave.
“Mac & Cheese Fritters” These mac snacks are bite-sized and served with giardinara remoulade.
