Mechanical Bull, Barbecue, Music Heading to Lincoln Park Country Fest

Lincoln Park will soon play host to the city's first-ever two-day country music festival.

The city's first two-day street festival dedicated solely to country music is planned this month for the streets of Lincoln Park.

Thousands are expected at the June 29-30 Clark Street and Armitage Avenue festival, which will include Southern-style staples such as barbecue food, square dancing and even a mechanical bull.

Let's not forget great tunes—more than 20 hours of live music, to be specific.

Brass Buckle Band, Chasin Moran, Mason Rivers, Hillbilly RockStarz and others will be performing covers of favorites by country's biggest stars like Blake Shelton and Kenny Chesney. Suburban Cowboys, Wild Daisy, Gin and Tonic, and Nick Lynch and Silversmith will also take the stage.

Artisan booths featuring "a wide array of mixed media" will line the streets, according to Star Events, which is coordinating the event.

" … Country Fest is a perfect hybrid of country culture and Lincoln Park class that brings fest fans to the North side for a true summer street festival experience," says the event's news release.

Coordinators said a $5 suggested donation will benefit the Mid-North Association, a nonprofit volunteer organization established by residents in 1950 to protect and preserve the historical character and charm of the local architecturally-rich community.

The festival's hours will be from noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
