Police: 2 Stabbed on Fremont While 'Collecting Debt'

Two men were injured over the weekend in a stabbing that occurred in the Sheffield Neighbors section of Lincoln Park.

Police had one man in custody on Saturday who they said may be connected to a Lincoln Park stabbing, according to reports.

He was being held in the wake of a Friday night incident in which two people—a 33-year-old man and a 28-year-old man—were stabbed in the 2200 block of North Fremont Street, which is within the Sheffield Neighbors border, reports the Chicago Tribune.

The older man sustained cuts to his hand the the younger, his back.

"Police have a 31-year-old man in custody, though it's not certain he'll be charged because he may have acted in self-defense," the Tribune story says

The two went to his house shortly before midnight on Saturday to collect a debt, police said. A window was reportedly broken during the scuffle.
