Teen Accused Of Armed Carjacking In Lincoln Park: Cops
The 16-year-old boy allegedly stole a 30-year-old woman's car at gunpoint last month, according to Chicago police.

CHICAGO, IL — A teenage boy faces felony charges in an armed carjacking last month on the North Side, according to Chicago police. The 16-year-old was taken into custody at around 2:40 p.m. Saturday in the 1400 block of North Sedgwick Street, police said. He was charged with felony aggravated armed vehicular hijacking.
The carjacking happened at around 10 p.m. Nov. 16 in the 2000 block of North Howe Street. According to police, a woman, 30, was exiting her car when the teen allegedly confronted her at gunpoint and demanded she surrender her car.
The woman did as she was ordered, and the teen allegedly drove away in her car, police said. She was not hurt in the incident.

This police report of what happened differs from the initial information released in November following the incident. According to the original report released by police last month, the woman told investigators three men confronted her before carjacking her 2009 black Toyota. She said she had been sitting in her parked car when one of the men ordered her out at gunpoint, the report stated.

Chicago has experienced more than 700 carjackings this year, the Chicago Tribune reports. That's more than the 663 carjackings in 2016, which had previously been the city's highest total in nearly 10 years, the report stated.
