Trio of Men Rob DePaul Student at Gunpoint

DePaul University and Chicago Police Department officials are searching for three men who were involved in an armed robbery Sunday night.

A DePaul University student was robbed at gunpoint late Sunday by a group of men, according to campus and police officials.

The 26-year-old male student was walking with a 29-year-old female friend in the 1000 block of West Webster Avenue—which is near where the avenue intersects Sheffield—around 10:15 p.m. when he was approached by three men, one of whom brandished what may have been a 9mm handgun, Chicago Police News Affairs officials said Monday.

Officers said the armed man pointed the weapon at the victim's stomach. He and his accomplices then took the victim's back pack, wallet and phone, a campus alert says.

"The offenders fled south on Kenmore," it says. "The victim was not harmed in the incident."

The armed man was described as being black and around 5 feet 9 inches tall. He had dreadlocks and was wearing a white, short-sleeved T-shirt and green pants, police said.

One of the other man stood around 6 feet tall and was black with a dark complexion. The third man was also black. He wore a green long-sleeved shirt, police said.

They are asking anyone with information to call 311 or DePaul Public Safety at 773-325-7777.
