Apple Pie Contest to Feature Pony Rides, Live Music

Bucktown Apple Pie Contest: Sunday, Oct. 14 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Details: Registration is open for this year’s Bucktown Apple Pie Contest. Whether you’re an expert pie-maker, or just want to eat, this is sure to be an entertaining and festive event at the Holstein Park Field House. The contest will have live music, pony rides, face painting and of course, apple pie. Those interesting in competing can email bucktownapple@gmail.com.
Price: $25 to complete, free to attend
RestauranTour: Wednesday, Oct. 17 from 5 to 9 p.m.
Details: If you love food and love North Center, this may be the perfect event for you. The RestauranTour is “a culinary exploration of North Center,” featuring the area’s top restaurants.
Price: $30 in advance, $35 day and includes a sampling at each restaurant.
Chicago Film Festival, October 11-25
Details: For 47 years, the Chicago International Film Festival has been the longest-running competitive festival on the continent. More than 50 films from all over the world can be seen with individual or day passes.
Price: $14 for an individual movie; passes are also available

Robyn Hitchcock All Requests Show: Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7 and 10 p.m.
Details: Catch this English guitarist at the Old Town School of Folk Music on Saturday. Worried you won’t hear your favorite song? The 10 p.m. show will be an all-request show where Hitchcock will play fan favorites.
Price: $30
Bike Lake View: Sunday, Oct. 14 at 10 a.m.
Details: The Lake View Citizens Council is hosting an hour-long bike ride around the neighborhood. Helmets are required, bike locks are suggested and kids are welcome. The ride starts at Seminary and Waveland Avenue.
Price: Free
