Students Celebrate Revamped Amundsen Homecoming

Amundsen High School was alive with spirit on Friday for a completely new Homecoming experience.

Students and staff at Amundsen High School were all saying the same thing: “We’ve never seen the school like this before.”

Decorations lined the hallway and students were decked in face paint and Amundsen gear Friday for the Viking Homecoming celebration.

The school’s Student Activities Committee planned the Homecoming events, which included a parade of athletes, spirit week and pep rally.

“We made people actually want to do spirit week,” said junior Victor Figueroa. “I don’t think we’ve had a parade in 25 years.”

The pep rally culminated with a dance-off competition where Amundsen administration and teachers came out and surprised the students with their own take on “Gangnam Style.”

Seniors Juan Mendoza and Lourdes Garcia were also crowned as Viking Homecoming King and Queen.
