COD Screens "Very Young Girls"

As administrators, health/social, community or civic leaders and/or professionals working with youth, you are a leader in the community. With that, I wanted to share an opportunity with you. On Tuesday, April 26th, there is a Child Abuse Fair at College of DuPage 11-4pm in the Student Resource Center. I have just been invited to include a program that I am working with, Sisters of Chicagoland GEMS (Girls Education and Mentoring Services). GEMS is a program specifically for girls who have been exploited throught the human trafficking trade. I believe continuing education credits are available as well. Also any COD students who attend will receive credits. See attached flier.   If you aren't aware of the increased activity in human trafficking, there is also a Illiinois Rescue and Restore sponsored Human Trafficking seminar offered out at DuPage County offices in Wheaton on Thursday, April 28th from 9-1pm. If you are interested, I can forward that flier to you as well. It is believed that in 2010, human trafficking will be more profitable than drugs and weapons in illegal activity. Drugs are consumed and weapons are confiscated.     Please share the April 26th opportunity with your network of counselors, educators, administrators, healthcare professionals, law enforcement and judges. There is no fee or registration required.     *Did you know?In the United States, the average age of entry into the human sex trade is 13.
*Illinois Depart of Human services estimates 16,000-25,000 girls in Chicago alone are victims of human trafficking.
*llinois ranks 5th in United States in number of calls to the National Human Trafficking Hotline.
