Family Shelter Services Presenting at Lisle Woman's Club Meeting

Lisle Woman's Club members invite guests to attend their Oct. 5 meeting.  It will begin at 7 p.m. in the training room at the located at the intersection of Route 53 and Short Street.  

A community liason from Family Shelter Services will be the guest speaker.  Family Shelter Services provides shelter, food, clothing, and psychological services for abused women and their families.  It is one of the groups that Lisle Woman's club supports.  

Following the presentation, refreshments will be served.

Chartered in Lisle in 1963, one of the first projects of this service organization was creating a junior public library staffed by Lisle Woman's Club volunteers and containing donated books and furniture.  Soon adult books were added.  The ladies then worked with the newly formed Friends of the Lisle Library and other groups and individuals to promote successfully the formation of a .  The referendum passed in December, 1965.   Lisle Woman's Club is affiliated with the international General Federation of Women's Clubs founded in 1890, and with the Illinois Federation of Women's Clubs, Fifth District.
