Lisle Police sponsors radKIDS

The Lisle Police Department proudly present a cooperative program called radKIDS.  This program teaches children to recognize and escape violent situations, such as potential abductions, bullying, abuse, and internet predators.  It also instructs children on basic safety practices such as safe playground practices, fire, and bicycle safety.  What makes radKIDS different from other classes that TELL children what to do in these situations; radKIDS provides children the opportunity to PRACTICE these skills in a safe setting.  They will practice calling 911, avoiding potential danger, and fleeing situations in which their safety is in jeopardy.  Further, radKIDS will teach children basic physical skills to break free and escape from any potential attackers.  Finally, radKIDS works to encourage confidence and self-esteem.  Upon the completion of the program, parents won't just HOPE their child will know what to do if faced with any of these violent situations, parents will KNOW their child will have the skills to escape danger.  Since the inception of radKIDS, 25 children have already used these skills to escape abductors and return safely to their families.  If you would like any further information on this program, please visit www.radkids.org, or call Officer Jodie Wise at (630) 271-4218.
