Applications Open For Manhattan's Banner Program To Honor Veterans

The application period is Feb. 15 through April 15.

MANHATTAN, IL — The Manhattan American Legion Post 935 is seeking applicants for its "I Honor" outdoor banner program, an effort to recognize veterans of Manhattan and Manhattan Township.

The program will have a limited number of banner positions along the major streets in Manhattan Township, organizers said, so recipients will be selected via lottery. Banners cost $140 for initial placement. Tho program will recognize those who have served, especially those who are past or present residents of the Village of Manhattan or Manhattan Township, or past or present members of the Manhattan American Legion.

Forms to apply are available on the American Legion Post's website, or at Manhattan Village Hall, 260 Market Pl. The application period is Feb. 15 through April 15.

Applications may be mailed to American Legion Post 935, P.O. Box 171, Manhattan, Il. 60442, or submitted via email to honor@americanlegion935.com.

Payment by check must be received along with the highest quality picture of the veteran and a copy of proper paperwork verifying Honorable Discharge or its equivalent. Photos will be returned.
