Driver Cited In Manteno Township Crash That Killed Mom And Son

The crash happened May 20. The driver crossed over the centerline, then driving down an embankment and into a creek, officials said.

MANTENO TOWNSHIP, IL — An Iowa man who was the driver in a May 20 crash that killed a 37-year-old mother and her 18-year-old son has been cited for improper lane usage, the Will County Sheriff's office said Wednesday.

Earnest Fisher, age 60, of Waterloo, Iowa has been cited after officials said he drove his SUV across traffic and off the road, down an embankment, into a creek near 6500 East on 12000 North Road in Manteno Township.

Killed were Tiana S. Stewart, 37, of Woodstock, and her 18-year-old son Romel Stewart, of Elgin, the Kankakee County Coroner reported.

Fisher was taken to Riverside Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, the coroner's office said.
