Manhattan Teen Still Missing: Will County Sheriff

MANHATTAN, IL — A teen girl reported missing from her Manhattan home Sunday still has not been found, the Will County Sheriff's Department said Tuesday.

Lana Roemer, 16, of Manhattan ran away from home, police said. Sheriff's detectives are continuing to follow up on multiple anonymous crime tips, emails and phone messages related to the missing girl.

Detectives have been conducting interviews with Roemer's friends and family. Multiple police agencies in Illinois and surrounding states have been notified to provide assistance based off of information gathered in the investigation.

"To dispel any rumors, Lana Roemer ran away from her Manhattan residence," the sheriff's department said. "There is no indication that Roemer was 'kidnapped' by a stranger, and no indication that there is a risk to public safety."
