Manhattan's Labor Day Party, Parade Back September 1–2
The Labor Party is Sunday, Sept. 1, with a parade set for Monday, Sept. 2.

MANHATTAN, IL — The Village of Manhattan will celebrate Labor Day with its 4th Annual Labor Day Party, a beloved tradition that promises a day filled with fun, entertainment, and community spirit.
This year’s event will take place on Sunday, Sept. 1 at the picturesque Round Barn Farm Park,24115 US-52, Manhattan, IL.
The festivities will kick off with a volleyball tournament at 10 a.m., followed by a bean bag tournament at 4 p.m. From 3 to 8 p.m., attendees can enjoy a full schedule of activities including games, music, and entertainment. A variety of delicious food and drinks will be available for purchase from local vendors such as Arrowhead Ales, Smokin’ Z’s BBQ, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, Ed Rolls, Mel’s Tacos, Cream Crunch N More, Drew’s Dogs, Ice Ice Baby, CoƯee N Repeat, and The Dock on Front Street.

This year’s event features a variety of exciting highlights for all ages. Attendees can enjoy a stirring salute from the ROTC Color Guard, an adventurous rock-climbing wall, and captivating magic shows that promise to enchant the entire family. Kids will have a blast with inflatables and face painting, while the Manhattan Junior High School Band will provide lively musical entertainment. Returning favorites include the zip-line and petting zoo, ensuring a fun-filled day for everyone. The evening will culminate with a spectacular fireworks show at 8:30 p.m. The fireworks will be launched from Manhattan Junior High School, located at 15606 Smith Rd., and can also be viewed from Round Barn Farm Park.
This year, the Village debuts a Pet Station, including a pet contest for the most patriotic pet, raffles, and dog pools. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet Police K-9 Apollo and witness a demonstration of his skills. Additionally, Clicker Canines will present the “Doggone Safe Presentation,” an educational session on dog bite prevention for children and their families. Don’t miss out on the agility course set up for four-legged friends!

The Labor Day Party is a free, family-friendly event open to everyone.
Don't miss the Labor Day Parade on Monday, Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. The parade lineup begins at 10:30 a.m., at Anna McDonald School, proceeding north on Rt. 52, east on North St., and concluding at Thelma. The Manhattan Junior High School and Lincoln-Way marching bands will be featured in the parade, joined by 33 other exciting entries.
