Bullet Went Through Wall, Struck Neighboring Home Before Reckless Conduct Arrest: New Lenox Police
Police said the man told officers he was securing a gun in a closet when he accidentally discharged it.
NEW LENOX, IL — A 37-year-old New Lenox man faces a charge of reckless conduct after police say he discharged a gun, causing a bullet to travel through the wall and into a neighboring residence.
An officer responded to the 1700 block of Nelson Road just before 9 a.m. Dec. 19, when they said the caller said he had accidentally discharged his weapon inside his home.
According to police, the caller said he was securing the gun in a closet and had removed the magazine, but didn't realize there was a round in the chamber when he accidentally discharged with.

The round traveled through a wall into the adjacent home, where police learned no one was home. No one was injured in the incident.
The man was taken into custody and transported to the New Lenox Police Department, where he was processed and released, officials said.
