No Injuries In Peotone House Fire Wednesday: Manhattan Fire

A house fire in Peotone Wednesday was contained to the kitchen of a two-story home, Manhattan Fire Protection District officials said.

PEOTONE, IL — No one was injured in a house fire Wednesday in Peotone, fire officials said. The home sustained extensive damage and was determined uninhabitable.

At approximately 4:22 p.m., the Manhattan Fire Protection District (MFPD) was called to a reported structure fire in the 200 block of West Street in Peotone.

The first units arrived on scene within three minutes of the initial call for service. Fire crews reported moderate smoke and flames showing from a two-story residential structure. A full still was activated for additional personnel and equipment.

Firefighters quickly established water supply and immediately began fire attack. Within 15 minutes, the fire was contained to the kitchen and extinguished. All occupants safely evacuated the building, and no injuries were reported of civilians or firefighters.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by MABAS19 Investigators.

Multiple agencies were on the scene and at the Manhattan Fire Stations to cover any additional calls for service during that time. These include Beecher Fire Protection District, Frankfort Fire Protection District, Manteno Fire Protection District, Matteson Fire Protection District, Wilmington Fire Protection District, East Joliet Fire Protection District, and Channahon Fire Protection District.
