Oktoberfest In Manhattan Scheduled For Saturday
The all day party starts at 7:30 a.m. and goes until 9 p.m.
MANHATTAN, IL — Danke schön! Manhattan residents can expect to hear that German phrase for "cheers" a lot Saturday during Oktoberfest, hosted by the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce.
The all day event is scheduled to start at 7:30 a.m. with a free 5K to benefit the Manhattan Food Pantry. The festivities are scheduled to last until 9 p.m. with a bonfire with the chamber and the Manhattan Fire Protection District, according to information on the chamber's website.
In between are numerous activities for all ages, including a craft show, live music, a pet costume parade and much more.

Some of the Oktoberfest highlights include:
- Oktoberfest Craft Show, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring more than 80 vendors, hosted by Manhattan Crafts.
- Pet Adoption Event, 9 a.m. to noon, hosted by Smalltown Spotlight.
- Pop-Up Coat Drive, starting at 9 a.m., drop off location at Anna McDonald School.
- COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Anna McDonald School.
- Blood Drive, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Anna McDonald School.
- Pet Costume Parade, free registration from 10:30-11 a.m. with parade to follow. Prizes will be awarded first-, second- and third-place winners.
- Elwood Garden Ukulele Strummers, 1 p.m. in Central Park.
- Music Revue, 3-5 p.m. in Central Park hosted by Spotlight Arts Music Collective.
In addition to all the above mentioned events, a variety of family events are scheduled to take place from noon to 9 p.m. Some of the activities include face painting, pumpkin decorating, a reptile show, games and kids crafts.
