2 Home Burglaries In Mokena Reported In Past 5 days: Police

Mokena police issued an alert Saturday to residents advising them to call 911 if they observe any suspicious activity.

MOKENA, IL — The Mokena Police Department is reporting two residential burglaries that happened just days apart and in the same general area, according to Mokena Police Interim Chief Brian Benton. The residents were not home in either case at the time of the burglaries, Benton said.

The first home burglary happened shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday in the 10000 block of Lancaster Drive, Benton said. The residents left the home for approximately 30 minutes, Benton said. A small, dark sedan was captured on video pulling into the driveway, Benton said.

The burglars made their way into the residence by forcing open the front door, Benton said, and then ransacked the home. No descriptions of the burglars were provided by police.

The second home burglary happened sometime between Wednesday and Saturday in the 9800 block of Hastings Lane, Benton said. The burglars gained access to the home by forcing their way in through the front door in that burglary, as well, Benton said.

No video was available for the Hastings Lane burglary, and police did not have a description for the burglars in that case, either.

Both of the investigations are ongoing, Benton said.
