Braidwood Dunes And Evans-Judge Preserves Closed Until Monday

Weather or other unexpected circumstances could extend the closure past Jan. 4.

Due to this week's snow event, access areas at Braidwood Dunes and Savanna Nature Preserve and Evans-Judge Preserve are closed and are expected to remain closed until Monday, January 4.

While crews worked on Wednesday morning to clear snow from the District's preserve roadways and parking lots, Braidwood Dunes and Evans-Judge were unable to be plowed due to the pliable nature of the gravel at these preserves. Because the ground wasn't frozen, District plows were digging into the gravel, so crews made the determination to discontinue plowing at these sites rather than damage the surfaces of the parking lots and roadway.

While these preserves are expected to open on Monday, weather or other unexpected circumstances could extend their closure. The public is still able to access these preserves on foot.
