Multi-Vehicle Crash Caused By Rear-End Collision: Police

The Mokena Police Department confirmed a crash happened on Lagrange Road near I-80 just before 10 a.m. Tuesday.

MOKENA, IL — The Mokena Police Department confirmed social media reports of a crash on La Grange Road near Interstate 80 on Tuesday morning.

Mokena police confirmed that officers responded to the scene at 9:49 a.m. The cause of the crash appeared to one vehicle rear-ending another, with a total of four vehicles involved in the crash, according to Mokena Police Chief Brian Benton.

Patch had earlier reported that Frankfort Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Tim Campbell said three vehicles were involved in the crash, but Benton updated that total to four.

One person, a female, was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, according to Benton. No information was available about the extent of her injuries, though the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Benton said.

Charges against the person whose vehicle rear-ended the other are pending, Benton said.

A motorist who witnessed the aftermath of the crash told Patch that at least two of the vehicles had heavy damage. Other cars were stopped, but the witness could not tell if they were involved.
