MOKENA, IL — A 37-year-old Frankfort man faces criminal charges after Mokena Police arrested him last week in connection with a vehicle that was registered as having stolen parts, police said.

Vincent Smith was charged after police said officers ran the license plate of a Chevy Silverado that they said Smith was driving. Police ran the vehicle’s plates at the intersection of 195th Street and La Grange Road on March 10. A report came back showing that the vehicle’s status was suspended and that it had been flagged by state officials for having stolen parts, police said.

Smith was taken into custody for operating the vehicle with a suspended registration. A subsequent investigation showed that the truck’s vehicle identification number was fraudulent and that the vehicle had been reported stolen, police said.
