Holidays Kick Off This Weekend With Mokena Tree Lighting, Caroling

The festivities including the annual Parade of Lights along Front Street, which sets off weeks of holiday events for the community to enjoy.

MOKENA, IL — With the start of the holiday season quickly approaching, The Village of Mokena will kick things off in style this weekend when it celebrates its annual tree-lighting ceremony, the village announced on Wednesday.

The festivities will begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday when the Parade of Lights will take place along Front Street. The activities will continue shortly thereafter, village officials said, when the Village tree-lighting ceremony will take place on the southwest corner of Front and Mokena streets.

There will also be Christmas caroling at the same location and residents will have the opportunity to take photos of the tree-lighting during the event.

Saturday’s holiday festivities are just the start of several seasonal celebrations that can be enjoyed by local residents over the coming weeks leading up to the holidays, which launch next week with Thanksgiving Day.
