Last Chance for Mayors' Foundation Scholarship

For Mokena residents who recently graduated high school and are heading off to college, the Mokena Mayors' Charitable Foundation is offering three, $1,000 scholarships. The deadline for scholarship applications is June 22.

For the college-bound student, being strapped for cash is a fact of life. Luckily, the Mokena Mayors' Charitable Foundation is ready to help out three students with a $1,000 scholarship.

The scholarship is given in recognition of the distinguished public service of Mayor Ron Grotovsky, Trustee Gary L. Chase and Trustee Jane McGinn, according to the Village of Mokena's website.

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA, complete a 250-word essay on why the applicant is seeking the scholarship, be enrolled in an accreditied two- or four-year institution within the U.S. and major in something relating to public service or government.
