'Love At First Bite': Crumbl Cookies To Open Mokena Location Friday
The cookie franchise is known for its "immersive experience," which allows patrons to see the cookie-making process.
MOKENA, IL — Cookie connoisseurs will soon have a new spot in Mokena to try the latest confectionery creations from Crumbl Cookies, the cookie company franchise that's known for its "immersive experience" allowing patrons to watch the whole cookie-making process.
The grand opening is scheduled for 8 a.m. Friday at 11249 W. Lincoln Highway. The new location is owned by New Lenox residents Frankie and Traci Pretzel.
"Literally everything about the company excites us," Frankie Pretzel said. "You start with the delicious taste of the cookies, obviously, but we really like — when you come to our store you'll see — everything is very clean, it's white and pink. It's an open concept, so you get to watch all the magic happening and all the cookies being made."

That open concept is one of the things that separates Crumbl Cookies from other cookie stores. Patrons can watch the whole process, from the eggs being cracked to the flour being sifted to the dough being balled.
“Having our customers see every cookie being made is one of the best experiences of our stores,” said Crumbl Co-Founder and COO, Sawyer Hemsley, in a news release. “Each ingredient is carefully chosen to provide customers with the highest quality cookie on the market.”

Crumbl Cookies has created to date about 270 different flavors of cookies, Pretzel said. Each week, the store features five cookies on its menu plus Crumbl Cookies' staple, milk chocolate chip, on a rotating basis so customers always have a chance to try something new, Pretzel said.
With so many different flavors of cookies being rotated on the menu weekly, customers might have a hard time deciding which is their favorite. But that's not the case for Pretzel.
"The churro [cookie] is my personal favorite," he said. "What's funny about that is that I didn't think I'd like it because I don't like churros. But, when I bit into the cookie, it was love at first bite."
After its Friday grand opening, Crumbl Cookies will be open weekly Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and on Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to midnight. Crumbl Cookies is closed on Sundays so that the company can choose the five cookies to be featured on a particular week's menu.
