Mokena 4th Of July Fireworks Returning To Main Park For 2022
The fireworks had been held at Ozinga Bros. in 2020 and 2021.
MOKENA, IL — Mokena's 4th of July fireworks will return to Main Park this year after being held near Ozinga Bros. the past two years, Village Administrator John Tomasoski announced during the Village of Mokena Board of Trustees Monday meeting.
The board discussed the issue at its Oct. 18, 2021, work session, according to Village documents. During the discussion at that time, Trustees George Metanias, Jim Richmond, Melissa Fedora and Rob Dauphinais all said they would prefer the fireworks to return to Main Park, 10925 W. LaPorte Road.
Trustee Joesph Budzyn expressed concern that hosting the fireworks at Main Park could "bring bad elements into the community from out of town."

At Monday's meeting, the board voted 5-0 to approve a contract in the amount of $25,800 with Pyrotecnico Fireworks, Inc. to provide the fireworks. Fleischer was absent from the meeting, with Metanias filling in as mayor pro tempore.
