Mokena Community Park District: 'New Pickleball Courts Finished'

The Mokena Community Park District​​ announced that its new pickleball courts are finished and ready for residents to enjoy​.

MOKENA, IL—In the mood to play some sports - particularly pickleball? If you answered, 'yes,' then you are in luck.

The Mokena Community Park District announced this week that its new pickleball courts are finished and ready for residents to enjoy.

The courts are located at Hecht Park (9310 Birch Avenue) and are easily accessible from the Cherry Street entrance, park officials said.

The courts are open when the park is open, dawn to dusk, seven days a week and are first come first serve.

According to park officials, pickleball was one of the top priorities in the master plan for Mokena Community Park District, due to its growth and rising popularity. After a long process that involved public input, park officials said the Hecht Park location was chosen for the courts.

Pickleball is played with a paddle and a plastic ball with holes. The sport combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong.
