Mokena Miracles Seeking Nominations For 2021 Holiday Season

MOKENA, IL — Mokena Miracles is accepting nominations for the holiday season for Mokena families who are facing difficult times. The deadline for nominations is Oct. 15.

"It's been a hard couple of years for everybody, and we're just trying to help everyone get by," said Mokena Miracles Board Treasurer Samantha Cooper.

Mokena Miracles has helped about 35 people across 10 families through donations since it began the group in 2017, Cooper said. The goal is to help at least four families this year, she said.

Mokena Miracles not only provides Christmas gifts to Mokena families in need, the nonprofit organization also assists with:

• Rent payments.
• Repairs to family vehicles.
• Home repairs for everyday functions.
• Medical bills.
• Fuel and grocery gift cards.

"Donations are always appreciated," Cooper said. "We don't yet know what our families are going to need. So, any dollar amount is always appreciated."
