Mokena Police Help Make Arrest In Burglary Ring
The arrest has connections to a burglary in Mokena in May.
MOKENA, IL — The Mokena Police Department assisted in the arrest of a member of a burglary ring Aug. 25 in the Village of Sleepy Hollow, located north of Elgin in Kane County, according to a news release by Mokena Police Department.
Pedro E. Evaristo, 21, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and also faces an additional 17 felony charges, officials said. It was not immediately clear what those other charges are. Additional charges are also pending, officials said.
Officials said they seized large amount of drugs and money; multiple vehicles; a trailer; multiple firearms, silencers and other weapons parts; as well as more than $100,000 worth of stolen property, including items reported stolen during a burglary in the 18900 block of Wolf Road burglary on May 10.

In the May burglary, Mokena detectives were able to identify a vehicle that led them to Evaristo, officials said. A joint investigation with Mokena PD, Will County Sheriff's Department and Sleepy Hollow Police Department followed, ultimately resulting in a search warrant at a residence in Sleepy Hollow, where Evaristo was arrested.
Approximately 40 law enforcement officers took part in the search of the Sleepy Hollow residence, the exact location of which was not released by Mokena PD. In addition to Mokena PD, members of the Illinois State Police Tactical Response Team, the Will County Sheriff’s Department and the Kane County Sheriff’s Department assisted in Evaristo's arrest.

Mokena PD said they have identified at least one other suspect, and the case is still ongoing. Mokena PD is asking anyone with information to call the Mokena Police Department at (708) 479-3912.
