Mokena Warming Centers Available At Winter Storm Moves In, Temps Drop
Windchills could push 30 degrees below zero and blowing snow is possible during the storm, which is expected to settle into the area.

MOKENA, IL — As temperatures begin to plummet Thursday as a significant winter storm settles into the Mokena area, residents are reminded that local warming centers are available for those who need them.
Forecasters are expecting wind chills to drop to 30 degrees below zero overnight Thursday into Friday and are expected to remain cold for the next several days. The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning that will remain in effect until Saturday as the snow begins to diminish.
The weather service is predicting anywhere from 3-5 inches of snow for the greater Chicago area, but said that winds – which could reach upwards of 55 mph overnight – could make for dangerous conditions to be out in. With the temperature drop, weather service officials said that frostbite can set in within 10-15 minutes of outdoor exposure.
