Mokena Water Restrictions In Place Starting Wednesday: Village

Outside watering is only allowed between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. effective as of Wednesday.

MOKENA, IL — Mokena residents are under Tier 1 watering restrictions beginning Wednesday. The restrictions are in effect "to ensure an adequate water supply for public safety purposes," according to the Village of Mokena.

Outdoor watering is only permitted between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. during the watering restriction, according to the Village. Outdoor watering during the evening hours is not allowed.

The restrictions mean that odd-numbered homes are only permitted to water outdoors during permitted hours on odd-numbered days, and even-numbered homes on even-numbered days, according to Village officials.

The restrictions were put in place because of high temperatures and a lack of rain in the forecast. Additionally, the Village is not authorizing the installation of new sod until further notice. No sod watering permits will be issued during this time, according to the Village.
