Mokena's Parkway Tree Program Splits Cost To Plant New Ones

Residents cover one half to plant new trees, Village covers the rest. Applications accepted until Sept. 30.

MOKENA, IL — Mokena residents look to add new trees in parkways near their property have an opportunity to split the cost with the Village.

The 50/50 Parkway Tree Program is open to those wishing to plant new trees in parkways adjacent to their property where trees have not previously existed.

To protect the environment and enhance the value of residential real estate, the Village has implemented a 50/50 cost-sharing program to encourage the planting of trees in the community’s public parkways.

Under this program, the resident pays half the cost for a nursery contractor to supply, deliver, plant, and mulch a new parkway tree. The Village pays the other half.
