Carmen Gresham is a 6th grader at Noonan Elementary Academy in Mokena and has been selected by her teacher, Mr. Evers, as this week's Standout Student. Congratulations Carmen and to the Gresham family.

What is one essential you must have when studying?
One thing I must have when studying is a neat and comfortable workspace so I can stay organized and not suddenly lose anything

What do you like to do when not in school or studying?
I like to study on a dry erase board (math, science, reading, and social studies) or hang out and play Roblox with friends

What is your dream job?
I have two dream jobs: to have my own interior design business, or be a neurosurgeon

What are some of your favorite songs?
I like most songs from Beyoncé's “Cowboy Carter” album

What is one thing people don’t know about you?
One thing that people don’t know about me is that I’ve played piano for five years

Who do you look up to and why?
I look up to Michelle Chin because she’s really good at math and is kind and caring

What do you keep under your bed?
I don’t keep anything under my bed because I don’t think it’s necessary

Who is your favorite teacher and why?
My favorite teacher is Mrs. Gutierrez because she’s outgoing and relatable

What is your favorite class and why?
My favorite class is Math because we’re learning more advanced things and going more in depth into things we already learned

What is one thing that stands out about your school?
That we have a Chapel and that we have access to it during lunch

What extracurricular(s) do you wish your school had?
Some extracurriculars that I wish our school had are a track team and a debate team

What is your morning routine?
Wake up, eat breakfast, get dressed, and leave for school

If you could change one thing about your school, what would it be?
It would be the policy about sugar. I know Mrs. Noonan wants us to stay healthy, but I don’t think that almost no sugar allowed is necessary

What is your favorite thing to eat at lunch?
My favorite thing to eat at lunch is the beef taco hot lunch

What is your best memory from school?
So far, my best memory from school is whenever teachers say something funny and then later in the day my classmates turn it into something even more funny
