Tangled Web of Baby Murder Trial: Court Supervision

The trial of a Plainfield man charged with beating his girlfriend's baby to death started this week and will last into the next one.

So far, the former girlfriend of 33-year-old Santos Loza admitted to continuing her sexual relationship with him for months after Loza allegedly killer her son. The ex-girlfriend, Sandra Sitko, claimed  she was trying to "find out what happened" to her 8-month-old baby, Kevion Bender.

During the trial, prosecutors played a video of detectives interrogating Loza. During the lengthy questioning, Loza repeatedly told detectives he had no idea how Kevion suffered broken ribs, a fractured skull and numerous bruises before dying.

Here's what else was going on in court last week:

• Six months after he sued a woman whose cat he claimed "viciously attacked" him, a Homer Glen man backed out of his court battle. The attorney for William Baxter filed a motion to voluntarily dismiss his lawsuit against Homer Glen woman Christine Bobak, the owner of the cat he accused of taking him on "without provocation."
• A Google+ review apparently rubbed Naperville lawyer Paul Nordini the wrong way, and now he's suing the man who penned it.
• Will County Executive Larry Walsh and Joliet attorney Timothy Rathbun were subpoenaed by the lawyer for Kathleen Konicki, a former county board member battling to get back "personal" photos she says an old boyfriend kept after their breakup.
• A man claiming he was injured when Hollywood Casino security staff tossed him from the gambling house is looking to hit a $40,000 jackpot with a lawsuit. Jack Chrzanowski filed his suit in Will County court.
