Trash Pickup Prices On The Rise For Mokena Residents
The price for waste disposal services is scheduled to increase beginning July 1.
MOKENA, IL — Mokena residents will see an increase in waste disposal services beginning July 1 after the Village of Mokena Board of Trustees approved a new contract Monday with Homewood Disposal Services/NuWay.
The monthly cost for waste pickup from July 1 to June 30, 2023, will go up from $20.46 to $21.16 for single family homes, according to Village documents. Those living in townhomes and condominiums will see an increase from $18.22 to $18.84, and apartment complexes will see its cost go up from $14.11 to $14.59.
The new contract with Homewood Disposal Services/NuWay will be for five years, with an option for a two-year extension. Other details of the contract include:

- Senior citizens will retain the $0.86 per month discount, and will receive one free month of service.
- The cost of waste disposal will increase 3.4 percent each year over the length of the contract, with the exception of townhomes, which will see an approximately $1 per month increase in 2023 and the the same 3.4 percent increase for the remaining years.
