1 Dead In Montgomery House Fire
Three other people were able to escape the blaze, and nearby homes were evacuated, officials said.
MONTGOMERY, IL — One person is dead after a fire at a two-story home in the 1800 block of Ness Way in Montgomery, police said.
Officers responded to the fire at 8:47 a.m. to find black smoke and active fire at the home
Three people were able to escape the home safely and told police they believed a male occupant was still inside.

Firefighters entered the home and found the male dead. His name and age have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Police said six fire protection districts responded to the blaze: Sugar Grove, Bristol-Kendall, Oswego, Montgomery and Countryside, Aurora Township and Aurora. The Kane County Coroner's Office and sheriff's office also assisted at the scene.

Several homes nearby were also evacuated Sunday morning, officials said. Other minor injuries were reported.
In a joint statement, Montgomery Police Chief Phil Smith and Sugar Grove Fire Chief Brendan Moran expressed their condolences, saying, "Our hearts are with the family who experienced this tragedy and now mourn the loss of a loved one. We will continue to support the family and the investigation."
A Montgomery Police social worker was on the scene to assist and will continue to stay involved in the case as a support to the family as they grieve.
The Kane County Fire Investigator Task Force and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the fire, and the cause is undetermined at this time.
