86-Year-Old Man, Dog Found Dead After House Fire: Kendall Sheriff

Deputies and firefighters responded to the early morning fire on Sunday.

MONTGOMERY, IL — Kendall County officials identified the man killed in an early morning house fire in Oswego Township Sunday as 86-year-old David Farber. Farber's dog was also found dead in the home, officials said.

Deputies responded to the fire just before 6:30 a.m.in the 30 block of Fernwood Road after the Oswego Fire Protection District responded to a report of smoke and found the house fire.

Firefighters entered the home and discovered the bodies of Farber and his dog, the sheriff's office said in a news release.

Fire crews worked to extinguish the blaze.

The sheriff's office said an investigation into the fire is being conducted in collaboration with the Oswego Fire Protection District, Kendall County Coroner’s Office and the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

A forensic autopsy was performed by the Kendall County Coroner’s Office on Monday morning. The final determination of the cause and manner of death is pending further investigation and toxicological study, the sheriff's office said.
