MONTGOMERY, IL — A Montgomery man was sentenced to 16 years in prison after he voluntarily confessed in 2022 to sexually assaulting two children, Kendall County State's Attorney Eric Weis said Wednesday.

Maxwell Jordan, 31, received the term after he entered a guilty plea earlier this year for one count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault.

Jordan was charged in late 2022 following an investigation by the Kendall County Sheriff's Office that began after the man "voluntarily and unexpectedly" went to the sheriff's office to confess. His victims were relatives of his, officials said.

The abuse started when Jordan was still a minor, Weis said. Investigators interviewed both victims along with the Kendall County Child Advocacy Center, and Jordan was "quickly charged."

Jordan was sentenced to 8 years on each count in the Illinois Department of Corrections, and they'll be required to be served consecutively. Once he completes his sentence, Jordan will be on mandatory supervised release between three years to the rest of his life, Weis said.

Based on his offenses, Jordan is required to serve 85 percent of his 16-year sentence and will have to register for life as a sex offender. He will also be subject to a "sexually violent/dangerous person evaluation" before any release from custody.
