Ex-Kane County Sheriff's Sergeant Pleads Guilty For Sexually Harassing Jail Staff: SA
The Montgomery man, 50, made unlawful and offensive physical contact with four Kane County jail employees, officials said.
MONTGOMERY, IL — A former sergeant with the Kane County Sheriff's Office pleaded guilty to attempted sexual assault and battery charges, officials said Friday.
A Kane County judge sentenced Russell H. Norris, of Montgomery, to 180 days in jail and 30 months of probation. Prosecutors said he made "unlawful and offensive physical contact" with four Kane County jail employees, who he supervised, between January 2018 and June 2020.
In July 2020, one of the employees filed a complaint against Norris two days before Sheriff Ron Hain placed him on administrative leave, Patch reported. In November, Norris turned himself in and was released after posting $10,000 bond.

Norris joined the Kane County Sheriff's Office in July 1998 and was promoted to sergeant in 2009. He resigned in August 2020.

In accordance with Illinois law, Norris must now register for 10 years as a sexual offender. He is also required to undergo a sex offender evaluation and comply with all recommendations, have no contact with the victims and pay them all restitution for expenses incurred, officials said.
