Kendall County Sheriff Increases Enforcement Around 4th Of July Holiday
The enforcement campaign will focus on identifying and removing impaired and unbuckled drivers from the roads, officials said.
KENDALL COUNTY, IL — The Kendall County Sheriff's Office is upping its enforcement of traffic laws around the upcoming Fourth of July holiday.
The campaign will run from June 20 to July 7, encompassing three summer weekends leading up to and after Independence Day. Deputies will concentrate their efforts on identifying and removing impaired and unbuckled drivers from the roads, according to a news release.
The sheriff's office will join Illinois State Police and more than 200 police and sheriff's departments for the coordinated statewide effort. Wearing seat belts is not only a law but also the best defense in a crash, according to a news release.

"We urge all residents and visitors to celebrate Independence Day responsibly," Undersheriff Bobby Richardson said in a statement. "That means making smart choices and not getting behind the wheel if you’ve been drinking or using cannabis, and always wearing your seat belt. Our deputies will be out to keep impaired drivers off the road and ensure everyone is wearing their seat belt."
The sheriff's office is encouraging anyone who sees a driver who appears to be driving impaired to call 911.
