Montgomery Sex Offender Failed To Accurately Register: Sheriff

MONTGOMERY, IL — A Montgomery sex offender faces charges after the Kendall County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday that he failed to accurately register information.

Corey J. McDonald, 28, was charged with three counts of unlawful failure to register. Kendall County sheriff's deputies began investigating the man, who is a registered sex offender, on Nov. 13, 2023.

The Kendall County State's Attorney's Office approved the three felony charges against McDonald after reviewing the facts and circumstances of the investigation.

Members of the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office and the deputy United States marshals assigned to the Sex Offender Investigation Branch arrested the man on Jan. 29 after a warrant was issued.

McDonald appeared before a judge the next day and was released on pre-trial conditions pending his next court date on March 5.

The 23-year-old man was initially charged with eight counts of possession of child pornography following a six-month-long investigation by Batavia police, Patch reported.
