MONTGOMERY, IL — A new road configuration is underway at Cannonball Trail and Dickson Road in Montgomery, with the first stage set to be completed March 19.

Phase one of the project, a joint venture between the Village of Montgomery and the Kendall County Highway Department, will realign Dickson Road to create a four-way stop with Cannonball Trail.

A new portion of the roadway is complete, and crews are planning to begin removing the intersection of Galena and Dickson roads, about two miles east of Raging Waves, on March 19. The new configuration will "improve traffic safety and support anticipated development and growth in the community," according to a news release.

The realignment involves creating a new section of roadway to merge with Cannonball Trail and redirect existing traffic through a newly structured four-way stop, with plans to transform it into a traffic signal in the summer.

"This configuration will enhance driver safety, reduce congestion, and offer a more organized route for vehicles traveling through Montgomery," officials said.
