Oswego Man Killed After Car Is Pinned Under Semi-Truck: Police
Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Montgomery police.

MONTGOMERY, IL — An Oswego man was killed Wednesday evening when his vehicle became pinned underneath a semi-truck following a crash at Route 31 and Caterpillar Drive, police said.
He was identified as Jason Messick, of the 400 block of Beaver Court in Oswego.
According to Montgomery police, at 5:17 p.m. Wednesday, the Montgomery Police Department and Oswego Fire Department responded to the crash involving a Nissan sedan, which struck a semi-truck at the intersection of Route 31 and Caterpillar Drive.

Officers found the vehicle pinned under the semi, and responding EMTs pronounced Merrick dead at the scene.
Police said a preliminary investigation shows that the Nissan was heading south on Route 31. The semi-truck was heading north on Route 31 and attempting to make a left turn onto Caterpillar Drive when the driver attempted to stop but was unable to avoid the collision, according to a news release.

The Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team (KCART) and the Illinois State Police responded to the scene, and the roadway in the area remained closed for several hours while team members conducted their investigation.
"Our hearts are with Mr. Messick's family and loved ones as they navigate this heartbreaking loss," said Montgomery Police Chief Phil Smith.
