Shots Fired In Montgomery, Charges Pending Against 2 Suspects: PD

Officials said 2 people were in a car driving east on Montgomery Road and one discharged a firearm with no apparent target Thursday evening.

MONTGOMERY, IL — Charges are pending against two suspects after shots were fired with no apparent target Thursday evening, police said.

Montgomery police first posted on Facebook at 5:20 p.m. Thursday alerting the public of an active investigation into shots fired near Montgomery and Briarcliff roads.

In an update Friday morning, officials said police determined that a car was driving east on Montgomery Road when a passenger discharged a firearm into the air with no apparent target.

Two people were brought into custody for questioning and released, with charges pending the Kane County State's Attorney's Office's full review of the case, police said.

Personnel from the Aurora Police Department helped Montgomery police in the investigation.

"Thank you to the Aurora Police Department for their cooperation and assistance in the investigation and detainment of the suspects, as well as Kendall County [Cooperative Police Assistance Team]," police said. "We also thank the community for their diligence in notifying 9-1-1 of any suspicious activity."
