The OBSA has partnered with the Chicago Bandits (Chicago’s premier professional fastpitch softball team) to offer a unique educational and athletic experience for the girls softball players of Oswego.
The league will benefit from six player clinics as well as a special Bandits game night, and an opportunity for 2 teams from each division to play at the Bandits Stadium in Rosemont, IL this summer.

The OBSA Softball program is open to girls ages 7-18 to play in one of 4 divisions. The Rookies (girls 7-8), The Minors (girls 9-10), the Majors (girls 11-13), and the Seniors (girls 14-18).
The representatives from the Bandits organization were greeted by a full room of parents and coaches eager to hear about the exciting changes being made to the program. Coaches will be trained by Bandits staff, and the girls will have hands- on training during clinics that will focus on speed and agility, hitting, fielding, base running, and other vital softball skills.
These clinics will be open to the public but offered free with paid registration for the OBSA Softball Spring League. Registration is open and the early bird deadline is January 31. The season runs from March to June. All games are played within Oswego and Yorkville, with the exception of the Senior league which does enjoy short trips to play other teams.
Meredith DeLeo, parent of an OBSA player said, “We have enjoyed this league for the last 3 years and this new opportunity is amazing. What an awesome opportunity for our girls to see professional softball players, and learn from them! Just one free clinic would be incredible, but 6? This is going to be exciting.”
Steven Bell, Vice President of Softball, is looking forward to this newfound relationship and expects to see more participation in each division. Bell spoke to the parents and coaches to explain how some of the clinics will run, offering clinics prior to the season beginning as well as during the season.
“We are pleased to work with such a great organization and offer these additional benefits to the softball players here in Oswego,” Bell said.
He added that softball is a unique sport in that, regardless of skill or past experience, girls of all ages are encouraged to join.
Sammy Marshall of the Chicago Bandits, known for her great speed and base running, shared that her journey to professional softball didn’t begin until she was 12 years old. Marshall played in high school and college before being drafted to the Chicago Bandits. Marshall will be a very visible face of the organization and assisting in the player run clinics to be held over the next few months.
